About This project
This project is more than a call to action or a tale of caution. Ultimately, it is an exploration into what it means to be deeply connected to a place. My name is Hannah, I am a third generation resident of Átl'ḵa7tsem, an environmental and historic interpreter with experience as a sea kayak guide. The Howe Sound has played a central part in my identity, values, and history. It's stories, a vital part of my upbringing. This project is to share such stories from the people who have been moved by these waters, highlighting the importance of the Sound, and encourage people to dig deeper into the places that have shaped them.
This project was developed as part of the Young Leaders in Conservation Program with the BC Chapter of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society. Thank you for your continued guidance, and the opportunity to share the beauty and ecological importance of the Howe Sound.

Temíxw: Stories from the Land, are stories selected by Chief Ian Campbell to share with the public through the Museum of Vancouver. If you want to dive deeper into the stories that have shaped this land, I highly recommend heading over to the website to hear these stories out loud. My personal favourites would have to be the creation story: skewk’, kw’iyítk iy ta kwaxwa7 ta skwáyel (Raven, Seagull and Box of Daylight) and xaays iy schayilhen (The Transformers and the First Salmon).
